По распоряжению от 15 июля 1941 г.все евреи должны были переселиться в гетто до конца июля. Евреи из Вышек ( 25 км от Даугавпилса) были сначала загнаны в Даугавпилсскую тюрьму, где отобрали всё их имущество, а затем загнали в гетто. Первые расстрелы начались 29 июля 1941г. Собрали всех евреев старше 60 лет и растреляли их в Погулянском лесу.
В 1989 г. в Погулянском лесу был обнаружен огромный ров с останками расстреляных .Собранные останки переложили в гробы. 9 июля 1989г. в Погулянском лесу была проведена траурная церемония захоронения нашедших останков. В ноябре 1991г. в Погулянском лесу был открыт мемориал, посвящённый евреям-узникам Даугавпилсского гетто.

According to the orders of july 15,1941 all the Jews had to be moved in the ghetto to the end of july.The Jews from Vishki(25 kilometers from Daugavpils)were led to the daugavpils jail,where they took all their properties and then led to the ghetto.The first shootings started on july 29,1941.They selected all the Jews older than 60 and shot them in the Pogulianski forest.
In 1989 in the Pogulianski forest a ceremony was carried.In november 1991 a memorial dedicated to the jews-prisoners of the Daugavpils ghetto was erected.

Interestingly, that is where Tzarina Catherina the First was born.
According to the numbers, it was very much a Jewish town, containing
a Jewish population of 70% in 1897 and descending to 56% Jewish by 1935.
Needless to say, those who did not flee into the Russian interior
were murdered, first by the Latvian collaborators who jumped them on
their forced march to the Dvinsk ghetto. Those who survived that
assult were taken after a few days to the nearby forest and massacred
in what the people from Dvinsk called the Aktion of the Provinces.

Согласно этому списку, в гетто жили 962 еврея – 537 женщин, 425 мужчин, среди них 212 детей. Возраст 57 евреев превышал 60 лет. А к началу ноября в гетто было около 7 тысяч евреев...
10 ноября 1991 года в Погулянском лесу был торжественно открыт мемориал памяти жертв геноцида еврейского народа и Даугавпилсского гетто."

In the archives a document was preserved named"the list of the inhabitants of the Daugavpils ghetto" made by the commandant of the ghetto on december 5, 1941.
According to this list in the ghetto lived 962 jews-537 women,425 men and among them 212 children.57 jews were older 60.But at the beginning of the ghetto there were about 7000 jews.
On november 10,1991 a memorial in the Pogulianski forest was solemnly erected to the memory of the Jewish genocide and the Daugavpils ghetto.
