Vishki is a village, situated in Daugavpils district, Vishki parish.
1. General review.
2. Traffic (distances) Village Vishki is situated 4,5 km from the parish house and 5 km from the nearest railway station Vishki. The village has got bus communication with Daugavpils town.
Inhabitants. 1935. 750 inhabitants: 354 (47, 20 %) men and 269 (52,80%) women.
Nationalities: 235 (31.33%) Latvians, 423 (56.40%) Jews, 85 (11.33%) Great Russians,
7 (0.94%) Poles. There are 175 separate families living in the village.
4. State, municipal and public institutions. In the village there is a senior policeman, tlr 29, post office, tlr 49, 3 schools, a Latin Church, tlr 22, and a synagogue.
5. Number of populated places (houses), disposition and facilities. In the village there are 158 houses (populated places). 39 houses (24,68%) belong to Latvians. 54 houses (34,18%) have got 1 room , 46 (29,11%) two, 37 (23,42%) three, 7 (4,43%) four, 2 (1,27%) five, and 12 (7,59%) six or more rooms.
122 (77,22%) take drinking water from wells, 4 (2,53%) from pumps, 30 (18,98) from natural water reservoirs, but 2 (1,27%) use another way.
In 55 (34,81%) houses there is a kerosene lamp, but 103 (65,19%) houses have got electric illumination.
